Introduction

Paraclete Life is a veteran-owned and veteran-operated business. We are a group of certified suicide prevention trainers who believe that suicide is preventable, saving lives is possible, and that you can make a difference. We teach suicide awareness, conduct suicide prevention workshops, and create prevention plans.

We are passionate about delivering life-changing workshops. Based out of Topeka, Kansas our trainers have traveled across the country to deliver workshops.  Past audiences and venues include schools, college campuses, adoption agencies, corporations, service organizations, counselors, therapists, nurses, clergy, military installations, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, suicide prevention coalitions, and the general population. Born out of a passion to equip teams and individuals with skills for life we have seen these workshops literally save lives.

ASIST and SuicideTALK are certified programs listed on the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.  NREPP is an online database of interventions designed to promote mental health across America.  Suicide Awareness Training is available as a presentation for groups of any size.  It is an original presentation designed by our team of trainers to increase suicide awareness in communities no matter the size.

Being a paraclete is how we approach suicide prevention.  The Greek word paraclete means comforter, counselor, advocate, and guide. A paraclete is one who is "called to our side." One greater than a friend. We want to journey with you, no matter how difficult the path.

Certifications

Paraclete Life is approved as a provider of continuing education by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Our approval authorization is SP-20-006.

Paraclete Life trainers are certified by LivingWorks Education, Inc. Each trainer must attend a rigorous Training for Trainers program and use standardized evidence-based curricula to provide fidelity & quality assurance. More information is available at www.livingworks.net.

Staff

​

John Potter, D.Min., is the President and Founder of Paraclete Life. He is a state, regional, and national suicide prevention trainer and speaker. During John's time as a US Army Chaplain, he conducted over one hundred suicide interventions with service members, veterans, and military family members. He is also an Army certified counselor in Traumatic Event Management. 

 

John has served on the Kansas Behavioral Health Services Planning Council Suicide Prevention Subcommittee and the Governor's Challenge to Prevent Suicide for Service Members, Veterans, and Families Initiative. John currently serves on the American Association of Suicidology Military and Veteran Committee.
