Mental Health Groups Concerned Over New 988 Suicide Prevention Hotline

The journey to getting a new national suicide prevention number started over two years ago. As we rapidly approach the finish line, many mental health groups are concerned that the system may be surged with a mass of callers or that it is not ready for national use. Moving to a 988 phone number will provide many benefits and will hopefully increase the ability and use of the suicide prevention system. But will states be able to handle the expected increase in demand?
