US Suicides Decrease and Suicidal Ideations Increase in 2020

The experts are pretty shocked, but data shows that the number of suicides decreased over 5% from 2019 to 2020. A CDC survey conducted in 2020 found that over 10% of participants seriously considered suicide in the past 30 days. This represents an increase in people who have suicidal thoughts.


A reduction of suicide losses and an increased desire to die seems like a contradiction. We continue to see how complex the issue of suicide is in our communities.
