2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention initiative released

The 2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention initiative was recently released. The national strategy is a ten-year comprehensive approach to suicide prevention at the national, state, and local levels. It is also accompanied by the first-ever Federal Action Plan. The plan identifies over 200 actions the federal government will take to support suicide prevention efforts. The newly updated national strategy is an important step in addressing the public health crisis of suicide in the United States. In 2022, more than 49,000 people died by suicide in the the United States.
